Charak Samhita an ancient ayurvedic text also states that a living being is made up of the food that it digests and diseases are caused by the imbalances in consumption and digestion patterns.
Another verse from Charak Samhita states- Food nourishes the spirit of existing beings. All living beings in the universe require food. Clarity, longevity, happiness, satisfaction, nourishment, strength, and intellect are conditioned by the food.
